The first aim of extracting and re-injecting geothermal fluids is to produce base-load, stable, environmentally friendly and cost-effective power and heat for Tanzania. But geothermal energy opens more options for use.
In agriculture the brines and steam are used for farming and fish farming, aquaculture, greenhousing, mushroom cultivation, palm sugar processing, drying processes such as coco and tea. The hotel sector benefits from “green-labled” power and heat that can be used for climate control, spa and wellness as well as for warm water production used for laundry and kitchen purposes. Schools, hospitals, public buildings, sports facilities can benefit from a stable and clean energy supply.
